Six Perfect Paleo Summer Snacks

Summer is the best time to rethink snacks! The sun is shining, temperatures rising, and pools opening. As you move your dinners from your dining room to your patio and start spending more evenings by the pool, consider the following perfect paleo summer snacks to prepare for your friends, family, and loved ones.

  1. Strawberry Salad with Base Culture bread croutons

A crisp, light summer salad is irresistible after a long day in the sun. Chop some fresh strawberries and toss spinach with a homemade paleo salad dressing. (We especially like this easy and tasty three minute lemon dijon vinaigrette recipe from The Laughing Spatula.)

Prepare croutons ahead of time by chopping a few slices of a Base Culture bread of your choice (our Keto Bread, 7 Nut & Seed Bread, or Sandwich Bread). Spread with ghee or clarified butter, then throw the bread chunks into the oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes for the perfect crunch.

  1. Apple Slices with Base Culture almond butter

If spending the day on the bike trail or by the pool, everyone needs a hearty afternoon snack between meals. Cut some fresh apple slices ahead of time, and spread with a Base Culture almond butter flavor of your choice.

This is also a great option for hosting outdoor summer parties. Dollop Cinnamon Almond Butter on each apple slice, then garnish with a mini cinnamon stick or a few sprinkles of cinnamon.

  1. Banana and Almond Butter Smoothie

While smoothies are a year-round favorite, there’s something special about a refreshing smoothie to start off a summer morning. Drop a few dollops of our classic almond butter flavor in the blender along with coconut milk, bananas, and perhaps some blueberries. Blend to your desired consistency. If you’re hosting a fun summer party, serve the smoothies in mason jars with fun straws.

  1. Mango Salsa

The fresh, sweet taste of mango in a spicy salsa makes for a great summer snack. Try out this Mango Pineapple salsa recipe from Paleo Newbie. You won’t even need chips! Serve in a bowl with a large serving spoon, and you and guests can enjoy the salsa with a fork thanks to the large bites of avocado, pineapple, and mango.

  1. Paleo Coconut Yogurt with Sticky Granola

Make dairy-free coconut yogurt with this recipe from Paleo Hacks! Yogurt and granola is a great snack option for summer - cool with a bit of crunch, it also has enough protein to hold you over until lunch or dinner. Mix in Base Culture’s Sticky Granola to add crunch variation to your yogurt snack. It’s comprised of an eclectic variation of nuts, seeds, and dried fruit for ultimate nutrition. Add raspberries or blueberries for color.

  1. Pistachio Ice Cream with Brownie Bits

We can’t talk summer snacks without mentioning ice cream! There are many paleo ice cream options, but if you’re going for homemade, this honey pistachio ice cream recipe from the Athletic Avocado is delicious. Chop a Base Culture Almond Butter brownie, then sprinkle the brownie bits atop any ice cream you pick or make.

For any of your summer snack desires or cravings, paleo options abound. We’d love to see what you make! Tag us on Instagram or use the hashtag #baseculture so we can see your paleo summer snacks on social media.
