Your New's Year's Resolution: Beginner's Guide to Paleo

The new year is upon us, which means you may be getting out your vision boards and resolution lists, vowing to finally make some changes you’ve been wanting to make.

There’s nothing like a new beginning to spur action on goals that you’ve had for a while - and, one of the most common resolutions is a new diet or lifestyle. You may have heard from friends how the Paleo lifestyle has worked for them - more energy, mental clarity, the whole nine years Do you mean yards?. And now, you’re committed to trying it out for yourself! Here’s a five step beginner’s guide to starting the paleo lifestyle, which we believe is going to make a more energized, happier 2019.

Step 1: Make An Adoption Plan Focused on Foods You Want to Eat, Rather than Cutting Out What You Can’t Eat

The best way to ease into the paleo lifestyle is to take it from a focus mindset. Rather than fixating on what you need to cut out and desperately missing that creamy peanut butter on your morning banana, focus on what you can eat - such as Base Culture’s almond butter.

Remember that when it comes to your lifestyle choices, you can have it all - you don’t have to sacrifice cravings and favorite foods in order to choose to nourish yourself with simple, natural ingredients only.

Step 2: Opt for Cooking Rather than Going Out

It’s less likely that you’ll mourn non-paleo foods if you aren’t around them. Opt to cook meals instead of relying on restaurants or outside meal sources as you’re getting a hang of the diet. Having control over what you put into your body is crucial - i.e., knowing how to pronounce every ingredient on a food’s nutritional label. If you’re typically too busy to cook, make it easy on yourself by making Sundays a meal prep day for the week.

Step 3: ‘Paleo’ your Kitchen

Take away temptation everywhere it exists. That way, next time you’re starving and you don’t want to take the time to cook, you won’t cheat.
